Looking pensive!
So, we come to the end of The Artists’ Open House event as part of the annual Dulwich Festival. Whilst it is ALWAYS good to take part in anything that helps to promote your work & your practice, it was a very quiet event for me overall. For fellow artists’, makers & creatives this last 18 months has been particularly trying in many ways & a struggle to keep the momentum going when so many vital avenues to stay afloat have been suspended, or disappeared altogether.
You find all the more that you draw on those creative rays of sunshine, thank goodness for those. We all need the support of family & friends and you keep going because the simple ‘act’ of making just happens to make you feel better….despite everything.

I thank the visitors that got in touch via my Instagram & came for a Covid safe Studio visit last weekend. A local lady and a fellow maker came in support and bought 2 of my hand printed notebooks, one of which will be a gift for her mum…..so so nice!
Of course we all recognise that a ‘deadline’ whilst potentially putting us in a spin (a good spin) it also ignites a productive burst of energy that needs harnessing…….don’t ponder too much……just do……….As the infamous Sister Mary Corita eloquently put it…….’There’s no mistake, there’s only make’ …….boy was she cool.

What’s next…….well that’s not all folks……….I will be involved in the ‘Urban Arts’ largely virtual event again, as it seems it cannot take place along Josephine Avenue in Brixton, even though the event is outside.
I have a sabbatical fortnight coming up after the half term break & I plan to focus on making new works…..lots of ideas to explore and a bit more time to do the fun stuff! I will be applying for the Woolwich Contemporary Print fair too.
Sydenham Artists’ Trail is also coming up on the horizon.
